Key highlights of Assam legislative assembly election 2021.

 

Dispur: The election of Assam will begin on 27 March and will be conducted in 3 phases.2.32 Cr are eligible to vote and approx 5 lakh people will vote for the first time. Voting will be held in 126 constituencies. 13 parties are fighting in this election.

 History: Congress was the dominant party in Assam before the 1980s. New political parties were formed due to the issue of illegal immigrants. . In the next 6 years from 1979-1985, resulting in a new part called AGP coming to power in 1985. The AGP remained in power till 1996 and since then the Assam election has been a contest between Congress and the AGP.

 Until 2016, when the BJP government came into power, Now Anti - CAA movement birthed two other parties which formed the united regional front, There are -

 In the Assam election, There are mainly 3 party contest -

 National Democratic alliance: This alliance made with 3 party

1. BJP

2. Asom Gana Parishad

3. United peoples party Liberal

 There are two names Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Bishwa Sharma coming for the CM candidate (Unofficial). Sarbananda Sonowal is the Current Chief Minister of Assam, 2 Terms MP, 2 terms MLA, He had no criminal case, His age is 59.

Himanta Biswa Sharma is 4 term MLA in Assam, He has no criminal record, His age is 52.

 

l Mahajoth ( Grand Alliance): This alliance has 3 party

 1. Congress

2. All India united democratic front.

3. Bodoland people’s front


 CM candidate is not official now but 3 names are strongly recommended by political analyst
