'IT IS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT EXPECTATION BUT ACCEPTATION': 2019 FILM “SOUND OF METAL” IS A THOUGHT PROVOKING MASTERPIECE BY DARIUS MARDER.

V
ery often we seem to take for granted the fact that our life is in control of ourselves. Whether you choose to accept it or not, the truth is - it's merely a layer of mirage in our mind that we are accustomed to creating to soothe ourselves in difficulties of our lives like creating false assurances or self-deceiving thoughts. But our mighty life seems to be quite stoic even though how we think about it. It's just our sense of perception that defines for us the positivity or negativity of incidents or facts that occur during our lifetimes. Our lives are simply neutral. As per my thoughts, even life is living itself into this universe through ourselves and all that has a life in itself. We are a representation of it.

Now, all the thoughts, point of view or one might say even as big as the word    'philosophy' whatever you call it that you have already read at the first paragraph,  I would rather like to call it by a name of a movie namely "SOUND OF METAL" a 2019 film directed by Darius Marder deals with the truthness of one's very own identity profoundly by the 'Sound and Psyche' theme that it presents to the audience. The protagonist 'Ruben' played by a British actor Riz Ahmed accompanied by an English actress named Olivia Cooke. The chemistry between them is one of the main reasons for the success of the film across the globe.

Ruben and his partner Lou (Oliva Cooke) operate on a punk band as a drummer and lead vocalist respectively. Their nomadic lifestyle made them live on a recreational vehicle (RV). All were going considerably well in their lives by living and performing together until one day to surprise Ruben life unexpectedly gifts a shocking hearing disability to him. Due to continuous exposure to high-pitched sounds, Ruben lost almost his entire hearing power. After that, the movie takes us on a journey of the life of Ruben and Lou. How Ruben adapts to his traumatizing situation and how both of them find their own identity by dealing with their bitter truth of life is the main attraction of this movie.

Finding the essence of the soul through disability is what primarily "SOUND OF METAL" depicts. Life can be unconditionally harsh and stone-hearted towards us and not by fighting it forcefully but to cope with it peacefully is the key for tackle down the unexpected gust of harshness and challenges that it throws at us.
