To experience that social truth again, watch this beautiful oscar winning movie.

Here I'm talking about the movie, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. This movie won the BEST COSTUME DESIGN category as well as
BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING section of this 93rd Oscars.
The initial release of the movie was 25 November 2020 (USA) and was directed by George C. Wolfe. This is a marvelous Musical drama and has 1h 34m of duration.

Ma Rainey was a renowned singer and performer of 1920's Chicago. The story mainly takes place at a recording studio there, named Paramount. At the recording session, Ma gets late and her jazz band decides to rehearse until she comes. In this band, there's a trumpeter named levee who joins the band a bit late and starts a conversation with other members by showing his newly bought shows. He is an ambitious outspoken music player and songwriter who has good confidence in his talent and ability. For this attitude, he's not so favorite of others. He insists to play his version of the song called "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" as was told by the recording company but everyone disagrees at first and then a bittersweet conversation takes place among them. This discussion includes the social and personal situations of that period. Well, they all are black men, so they all come up with their own or passive experiences of facing humiliation by the white people through the movie. Soon Ma arrives with her nephew and the recording goes on with several frustrating incidents and tantrums. Finally, the movie reaches a very strange turn.

This is an eye-catching movie. The costumes and presentation are simply incredible as you can guess by its winning title. The picturization of the time era and social scenario is sincerely taken care of. While watching this movie you can see the heartbreaking confession of a famous artist and the destruction of the dream of a struggling artist at the same time. You can have a clear vision of the social challenges of black people and their ways to face and tackle them in many aspects. This movie has too many significant layers that you can peel off only if you watch this to the end. The movie surprises you by its turnings even though it's based on a very known and studied topic. If you want to live some moments in that time era truly, watch this movie.
Will be back with the next one on the list.
