Nicolas Sarkozy arrest and send jail for 3 year .
PARIS: Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to three years in prison on corruption charges. However, his sentence of two years has been suspended. As a result, he practically does not have to go to jail. Because under French law, no one has to go to jail unless the sentence is more than two years. The judge said the former president could spend a year in prison at home. Sarkozy was accused of influencing a judge to leak information about an investigation into money used in the presidential election. He is the first former president in French history to be convicted of abuse of office. Earlier, his predecessor, Jack Chirag, was also suspended for two years. However, he was convicted of abuse of office.
Sarkozy was President of France from 2007 to 2012. Sarkozy was accused of illegally taking money from a female French industrialist during the 2008 election. French police are investigating the incident. The phone is eavesdropped on under the pseudonym Paul Bismuth. In 2014, police tapped a conversation between Judge Gilbert Azibert and Henri Herzog, a former lawyer for Sarkozy. It is clear from that statement that Sarkozy tempted Judge Gilbert to a higher position. In return, he was asked to smuggle information about the case against him. He is also accused of spending extra money in the 2012 elections. Sarkozy, however, lost that election. The verdict in that case will probably come out at the end of this month. An extra-marital affair is also being heard against him. Sarkozy divorced his first wife and married supermodel Carla Bruni while in office.
