New Delhi: India’s arms imports fell 33% between 2011-15 and 2016- 20 , this report was released by the stock home international peace research institute on Monday 15 March 2021. This report says the largest exporter is the USA and the largest importer is Saudi Arabia, and in this list, India is the second-largest importer and Indias export on the global market is 0.2%.
The report says India’s arms imports mainly in an attempt to reduce its dependence on Russian arms and complex procurement processes.
In those year Russia is the most affected supplier,although imports of US arms also fell by 46% in India.
India’s top three arms suppliers during 2016-20 were Russia(49%), France(18%), and Israel(13%) the report says.
According to the data India is the 24th largest exporter of major arms and India gather 0.2% of the share of global Aram exporter, you think only 0.2% yes but in a few years ago this number is only 0.1%, and the export increase 228% between 2016-2020. Myanmar,Sri Lanka, and Mauritius were the top importer of Indians defence product.
