NEW DELHI : Glenmark becames the first pharmaceutical company in india toreceive regulatory approval for oral antiviral Favipiravir ,for the treatment of mind to modecrate COVID - 19 . The company Glenmark approved by indian govt. for promoting and manufracturing the Favipiravir at Rs 103 per tablet .Favipiravir is one of the medicines that is being explored as a potential treatment for covid -19 .This is the first medication to be approved and commercially avalable for the treatment of COVID-19 . this is the most trusted medicine in now a days .


Glenmark has said that the drug is advised for mild to moderate mild to moderate covid-19 cases.
To address urgency of rising covid-19 cases drug controller general of india fast - tracked permission to glenmark pharmaceuticals to manufacture and market favipiravir tablets.

How does Favipiravir work?

The drug works by short-circuiting the reproduction mechanism of certain RNA viruses as influenza. This leads to the blocking of viral repliction and thus reduces the viral load and severity of the disease .

Glenmark has started that its phase three clinical trials using antiviral drug favipiravir for covid-19 patients in showing early promising result . The DCGI has approved the drug for restricted emergency use ,even as the result are yet to be declared .
